November 1/2: The Uranus/Pluto square aligned with star cluster M70 and the Sun/Mars midpoint confronts our civilization, compels us to revolutionize our energy system, questions war and violence in our society

November 1/2: The Uranus/Pluto square is aligned this time with star cluster M70 and the  Sun/Mars midpoint. This intense combination is highly confrontational and compels us to revolutionize our energy sources and also to question the roots of war and violence in our society

For years, there has been lots of discussion about the Uranus/Pluto square as it is one of the most important astrological events of present times. Its manifestation is pretty much as the 1960's, when these two planets were conjunct, starting their synodic cycle and there was a revolutionary cultural trend flowing all over the world. This is no wonder, since, due to the slowness of these planets, this square reflects a very important process, which refers to a substantial crises and profound changes in our society. Uranus was discovered at the time of the French revolution and the industrial revolution, inevitably acquiring revolutionary connotations. Pluto also symbolizes deep transformations, both by its name and the long time it takes to move around the Sun. Now that they are at 90° from each other in the tropical zodiac, they certainly indicate a time of crisis in our civilization. At this point, I don't deem it necessary to demonstrate this crisis is happening, so I will focus on revealing the meaning of this famous square, which still will be in effect at least two more years. It is desirable then to know more about it...

Questioning energy production

First of all, Uranus is exactly aligned with the midpoint Sun/Mars. This points directly to the area in which the Uranus/Pluto square will be expressed. The Sun and Mars refer to energy sources, and on another level, to war. It is very likely that in the coming months humankind will be shaken in regard to the way we generate the energy we need in our civilization. We can think of oil, or perhaps of atomic energy. Especially since the line of Mars at the time of the exact Uranus/Pluto square passes very near the fated Fukushima nuclear plant (see image), which has been damaged and is still polluting the sea with radioactivity for more than two years now, without a possibility of immediate repair. The line of Chiron, a planet associated with wounds, diseases and repairs, passes even closer to the east coast of Japan. Whether this means a repair or an even deeper wound depends on the fickleness of nature and our own destiny. But it seems that something is preparing in relation to our awareness of the wound that already exists in terms of nuclear accidents.

In any case, regardless if the situation gets better or worse, it is important to realize the importance of redirecting our civilization toward energy sources that involve communion with nature, not exerting power over her. Nuclear fission, which breaks the force that holds together the universe in terms of chemical elements, cannot be done without consequences. This has been warned thousands, millions of times since mankind started  to manipulate atomic energy, but these wise voices are not heard by the power of money and capital. Those who handle the financial and political power in the world are often as dazzled by the power of money as were the first Spanish conquerors of America, trapped in a fantasy of usufruct, which now fails to take into account the irreversible reality of radioactive contamination. The Uranus/Pluto square will shake again human consciousness through disasters that will force us to accelerate the energetic shift we need and which many people are working on already. Something is likely to happen about atomic energy,  or maybe oil, which is also polluting the atmosphere, or both.

The social and economic structures that support the exploitation and consumption of polluting energy are too rooted in our daily routine to expect a fast change. However, if we don't  accelerate change, it will inexorably overtake our intentions. And so we have to speed this process by either putting pressure where needed, raising awareness, or by modifying our individual lives. Although apparently there is very little that  individual people can do about this, any cooperation in the field of ecology and energy shift, coupled with millions more, can have a substantial effect. International capital gains could still be great without leaving a shameful legacy of waste and pollution to those who will (probably) survive.

Dismantling power paradigms

The same is true of the military orientation of money and resources. War is big business, otherwise, it wouldn't be materially viable in any region of the planet. A society built entirely on the paradigm of competition, convenience and usufruct implies a deep belief in the domination some people have over others. The savagery prevalent in all the struggles between nations and minorities during the history of humanity, is now simply transferred to money. The supposedly democratically elected politicians usually decide, for the convenience of their sponsors, where is it convenient to place the next confrontation. In such a scheme , it wouldn't be surprising if in the coming months a new conflict breaks out, as the Mars/Sun combination, together with Uranus/Pluto, implies an atmosphere of rebellion and nonconformity, which is always the perfect match for a social explosion, and war. Whenever there are struggles between people and government somewhere, arms manufacturers will be waiting around like vultures.

Given that Pluto is conjunct M70, a star cluster with a gravitational core collapse it is inevitable to think of disorganization, confrontation and unrest throughout the world, although this is not anything new. The strength of the Sun/Mars midpoint, although confrontational and based on a paradigm of power, must be directed to redefine the way in which we interact with each other on a global level. Common violence must become a spirit of cooperation, although this sounds utopian and idealistic in the current, decadent and competitive atmosphere. In fact, it is a reality in which we are all embedded, whether with awareness or ignorance, with involvement or negligence: kidnappings, violations of human and animals rights, destruction of nature, discrimination and racism, religious and political fanaticism, war around the world. With M70, peace is not expected to prevail, but we may find a balance to some of the extremes of this particular time of our evolution. Diplomacy and harmony are more necessary than ever... On the other hand, M70 has only two variable stars, so it represents stability and moderation within an atmosphere of discord. Or maybe we should call it the possibility of respect for each other? Well, even M70 has a positive side !

The importance of individual change in the collective scheme

Anyway, it is essential to realize how our personal attitude can promote or block this change. On our individual level, it is also necessary to revolutionize, since as members of this society, the manifestation of collective tendencies is efffected through our very personal actions. Changes in our diet, habits, and personal consciousness can lead to interesting effects. If an individual transforms his aggressive energy, for example, directing it to productive activities, good results will be visible. If this individual changes his consumption habits instead of just staying angry complaining about pollution, then he is doing more for the planet than many who are alienated buying what they do not need. Many possibilities can be mentioned, but the bottom line is that despite the anarchy indicated by M70, we can have a steady progress towards a new reality, both personal and collective. Our little grain of sand counts with Uranus/Pluto, and it counts a lot.

But planets can only indicate the course of our development, in their role as cosmic mirrors. As for what actually happens, it's only us who decide, and, in this decision, Uranus and Pluto can be quite helpful. Both planets represent the elimination of stagnation, of the obsolete, more than any other planetary combination in our solar system. We must stop harmful habits, discriminatory practices, selfishness and craving for money, war policies, polluting emissions, and replace them with environmental cleanup, new technologies, respect for ecology and human rights, with generosity and cooperation, with freedom to live our lives and let others live theirs. To do this, we must defend ourselves against the destructive trends of capitalism, and defend the only place we have to live: planet Earth. Wasting our precious -and short- life in power struggles that deepen the collective karma is a real sacrilege. And that's what Uranus and Pluto seem to indicate before shaking things up again in this stage of a process that will last until the year 2015.

Have a great weekend and a happy revolution! (Is it possible? Yes!) .
