March 8/9: The Solar Eclipse in parallel to star cluster M10 and contra parallel galaxy M61 invites us to balance destruction and intolerance with acceptance and integration

Eclipses of the Sun and the Moon always generate great excitement among humanity, and this has not changed over time, or with technology. It may be an instinctive reaction, as a phenomenon that breaks the regularity and stability, even momentarily, is perceived as a potential threat. Humans need stability, and when the cosmic order is disturbed, it takes us out of our usual focus on ourselves and makes us point, with a respect impossible to ignore, our heads to look at the sky.

The solar eclipse of March 2016 certainly makes us raise our eyes to heaven, but maybe the eyes will be full of tears, because of the way we are dealing with the world, including ourselves. On one hand, the eclipse makes parallel to star cluster M10, located in the constellation Ophiuchus. This cluster is characterized by a mixed, heterogeneous population of stars, and therefore suggests a symbolic association with the concepts of balance, acceptance and integration. When M10 is present at important astrological events, it often encourages people combining in many different ways, and it is one of the celestial objects with a mostly benevolent astrological effect, as it indicates stability... it only has 3 or 4 variable stars.

On the other hand, the eclipse makes a contra parallel to M61, a galaxy in the constellation Virgo. M61 is one of the most active and energetic galaxies in this constellation. Among other high voltage features, in M61 were detected at least six supernovae, which, contrary to the effect of M10, is highly destabilizing. M61 is a galaxy that is usually present in conflicting events, where  ongoing crisis and also intense renewal is taking place.

It would seem that the eclipse indicates the need to balance with acceptance and union the destruction facing our civilization, which manifests mainly through the refugee crisis in Europe. Although it is not the only problem the eclipse seems to highlight, in itself is a symbol of a crisis pointing to its source: the Greek islands. The very cradle of our Western civilization, these islands are full of people displaced by wars generated by the same civilization, just like 4,000 years ago. It is not by chance that geographically the focal point of the humanitarian crisis is located in Greece, where we find our society's roots! Anyway, the model of governments at the service of money, not the people, is paying a high price, an instant karma for making the Greek economy explode as a supernova multiplied by six, a few months ago. M61, with its six supernovae, generally coincides with situations out of control, that strongly shake the establishments of society, and also bring renewal.

The problem of refugees throughout the world is very complex, but the fact that the eclipse connects simultaneously to celestial objects as opposite as M10 and M61, indicates the possibility of achieving a balance, albeit partially. Faced with rejection and discrimination, we must strengthen acceptance and tolerance; to cope with aggressiveness and destructiveness, we must strengthen moderation and insist on a constructive attitude. In the media, there are already circulating the embarrassing and disturbing images and videos in which of refugees being beaten in Europe, while in the US the focus is on the racist and destructive discourse of Donald Trump. This is just to mention a couple of examples, but we can spot all around us, in different situations, the need to compensate with real kindness the rough treatment we are giving to the planet and to ourselves.

During the next six months, which is the approximate duration of the solar eclipse's effect, the answer to this crisis must be both individual and collective. Each person can contribute in some way to restore harmony through acceptance, even in small acts around. On the other hand, it is important to participate in some way, exercising our social responsibility, supporting social movements that promote integration and are more indicative of a globalized, inclusive society.

M61 shakes our society from the very roots, highlighting the paradigms of the past, based on exploitation and abuse. But the road to balance indicated by M10 is clear: acceptance, integration, tolerance. And only we as individuals can practice them both in our personal lives and in our social participation, to counteract the destructive effects of hatred and discrimination.

The solar eclipse is just telling us that we have six months to work on this.
