March 29/30 : Venus and the Owl Nebula (M97) favor introspection in relationships, while Mars , the star Eta Carina and the Wild Duck Cluster stimulate material prosperity and egocentric behavior

March 29/30 : Venus in opposition to the Owl Nebula (M97) and square Saturn. This astrological combination symbolizes the opportunity to find enriching insight in relationships. Venus combines her diplomatic abilities and desire for companionship with the intellectual and revealing personality of the Owl Nebula. M97 is actually a dying star, or planetary nebula, whose appearance, with two holes at its poles, gives it the appearance of the head of an owl. This nebula has a star of very high temperature at its center, which acts through the intellect and the higher mind. It also has a portion that can be considered a reflection nebula, which reflects, as in a mirror, the light of the central star, which in terms of human experience suggests introspection and revelations...

     Therefore, this weekend is great for sharing experiences, intuitions, dreams, emotions, and discuss about them in deep, intimate conversations, which will certainly bring important insights which will help clarify situations difficult to understand... Having good company will be of great help to this process, so this is not a weekend for superficial relationships... This is reinforced by the square between Venus and Saturn in the zodiac sign of Scorpio, which suggests seriousness, and encourages scientific and psychoanalytic research. By the way, since Venus also rules art, this process can be expressed through  participating in artistic events (theater, cinema, dance, literature, music, photography... etc.). This will bring to light ideas that will make us reflect and expand our own consciousness and see the world in which we live with broader knowledge, and wisdom.

     Venus, with all this introspection, connects to another planet that rather relates to the material world. It makes a trine (120° angle) with Mars, which is still retrograde. But this weekend, the red planet will be in  ecliptic conjunction with peculiar giant star Eta Carinae, and parallel to the Wild Duck Cluster (M11). This astrological combination suggests the generation of wealth and prosperity, for two reasons: Eta Carinae, (one of the biggest stars in the galaxy) is very bright in the infrared spectrum (frequency related to the material world) and the fact that M11 is extremely rich in stars (it has over 2,900 !).

     In this way, Mars, helped and encouraged by the introspection of Venus, can activate and boost our productivity and be of benefit to the flow of prosperity. In its negative expression, Mars can reflect selfish behaviors, since Eta Carinae, out of its gigantic size and unstable character, may represent a selfish, explosive and dominant behavior. In the international arena, it is possible that this is reflecting aggressive, war-like trends, but on a personal level we can tame this energy by directing it to where it will be most beneficial, fertilizing our material life by boosting our talents and resources. Try not to overdo, however, especially when spending money!

April 8/9: Venus, the Sun and the star Eta Carinae indicate diplomatic efforts to compensate threatening and aggressive egos, while Pallas and M48 show the willingness to fix chaotic situations... The Sun and M68 help to raise self-esteem; Saturn, Vesta and the Horsehead Nebula promote an effective organization

April 8/9: This intense and hectic week starts with Venus in parallel with the Sun and opposed to Eta Carinae, one of the biggest stars in our galaxy. This represents the necessary strength to stabilize with harmony and diplomacy the explosiveness of egocentric, threatening personalities. Eta Carinae is a supergiant star, prone to constant eruptions, and is a threat in itself because when it explodes (within tens of thousands of years), it is very likely to destroy everything around it, including the terrestrial biosphere. Definitely, this process coincides with the recent threats from North Korea about nuclear war, but Venus and the Sun appear to have the strength to balance and handle the situation properly. At a personal level, try diplomacy to deal with irritable, egocentric and/or dominant people, instead of provoking confrontations.

     But there are other astrological combinations that represent the need for diplomacy beyond personal interests. Juno is in ecliptic conjunction with Supernova 1987A, in contra parallel to Mars and galaxy M49, and at 45° from Mercury. The relationship between the asteroid of commitments and the most recent supernova explosion in our galactic neighborhood reveals that many agreements and contracts will tend to break-up, sometimes in unexpected or drastic ways. This can affect many relationships, especially love or business, and this will make many marriages and societies to enter a critical phase... or simply to break-up. On the other hand, Juno can achieve new agreements if the need to harmonize is greater than the natural aggressive drive Mars. The planet of war is in parallel to galaxy M49, which represents a strong need to attract attention because of its high brightness and great gravitational power. Therefore, the best way to start a conflict personally or internationally is letting egotistic drives to stand before  collective/partnership needs. Hence the importance of not seeing things through a limited and individual scope. Instead, try to negotiate. A hard lesson in a society that glorifies the ego, but not impossible to assimilate ...or change. It's up to you!

     Juno is contra parallel to Venus and the Sun on April 9th, which can help to reduce the risk of confrontation and to soothe plaintiff egos. This combination represents fair and equitable relationships, both personally and collectively. The pursuit of equality will prevail as the week passes. Moreover, the parallel of asteroid Pallas to star cluster M48, and its sextile (60°) to Neptune indicates a good time to give some structure to confusing or chaotic situations with an effort of will. Pallas represents strategies, and M48, abundant in G-type stars, symbolizes a will that prevails. The contact with Neptune indicates where to lead this strategic deployment of force: to situations where there has been negligence, carelessness, disaster, victimization, confusion, chaos, disorganization, illness. Even if they appear difficult to solve, many situations will change for the better if there is the willingness to work on it. Do it now and you will succeed!

      The Sun in opposition to globular cluster M68 and at 45° from Neptune continues with the idea of compensating weaknesses or neglect. M68 is a very disperse cluster with a low metallicity, indicating in psychological terms a low self-esteem. The opposition of the Sun, if only for a couple of days, tends to balance this trend. So, if for some reason  feelings of inadequacy or insecurity arise, it is time to compensate them with self-assertion, a wider consciousness, a realistic outlook, emphasizing the positive side of life. We must brighten the dark corners of our existence.... or that of others as well.

    Finally, the mid-week will witness a strong activity of Saturn, which is placed at 135° from the asteroid Vesta and the Horsehead Nebula. This combination may coincide with a trend of organization and structure that can have extraordinary results. Vesta represents a strong concentration, while the Horsehead Nebula, with which Vesta is in ecliptic conjunction, tends to highlight situations, making them visible and obvious. Saturn involves practical demands and devotion to duty, so this astrological combination refers to a disciplined demonstration of personal energy, but the results are visible, tangible. Further, the level of exigence can be excessive and therefore it is not good to exaggerate in this regard, particularly in contexts where it is not needed as there is already an ongoing organization. However, Saturn is slowly separating from a contra parallel to star cluster M15, whose stars coexist in a disorganized and conflicting environment. This indicates that it is good to bring order out of chaos and restrict conflicts, putting goals to be achieved as a priority, as well as ignoring the differences between people. These can be overcome if there is discipline to focus on a common goal, despite maintaining different positions individually. There will be better times in the weeks to come for expressing independence and freedom. Nothing lasts forever! But for now, build on this momentum to achieve a better organization. It's worth the effort!

August 10/11: Mercury and the North Lunar Node make everyday life flow easier, while Mars and Eta Carina generate an explosive energy, with a positive potential if properly directed

August 10/11: Mercury, now resuming its direct motion, makes a trine to the North Lunar Node, a relationship that facilitates communication and can make everyday life flow much better than in previous days or weeks. Hence, it is a good time to arrange situations in our daily routine, communicating effectively. It is a good opportunity to untangle complications related to Mercury retrograde, and if you have put a project or action in stand-by due to this retrograde motion, now is the time to act...

     If everyday life becomes a little smoother, Mars in ecliptic conjunction to the star/nebula Eta Carinae indicates high energy processes. This mix may involve, if not handled properly, conflicts, accidents, assaults and even violence. Eta Carina is one of the biggest stars in the galaxy, and because of its mass excess, it becomes very unstable, producing from time to time eruptions that have created part of the nebula surrounding it. Therefore, the combination with Mars may involve an energy out of control, and in times as violent as those we experience, we must be alert. The last time Mars was in conjunction with Eta Carina, on September 3, 2010, there were several violent events around the world: a Taliban bomb kills 53 people at a rally in support of the Palestinian people in Quetta, Pakistan, there is a mass slaughter of civilians in Darfur, Mount Sinabung erupts in Indonesia, Volgograd and Saratov fires in Russia destroy just over 500 buildings, there is an earthquake of 7.1 degrees in Christchurch, New Zealand...

     Of course, each time a cycle is repeated it does not necessarily produce the same types of events, but it is important to realize at a personal level the magnitude of Mars/Eta Carinae combination to properly channel the trend in our personal field of action. This astrological combination may indicate an aggressive, egocentric and domineering attitude, but also one that can help achieve difficult tasks that cannot be done without a great motivator. The energy of Mars combined with the powerful ego of Eta Carina are useful when they are put to service a noble cause, when strength is needed to compensate for weakness, instead of just satisfying a need for power and control.

    Once gain, astrological combinations like this may make us think how the world would change if the resources spent on war and weapons were used to help the world's hungry population and with health problems. What are we doing in our field of personal action for this situation to be reversed? Maybe Mars and Eta Carina have the answer for those who know and understand their manifestation.

July 20th: Jupiter, the Hyades and the Eskimo Nebula weaken Saturn's rigidity, Mercury introduces the opposition of Pallas to the globular cluster M3, the beggining of a period of major repairs

July 20th: Jupiter is at 135° from Saturn, in parallel to the Eskimo Nebula, conjunct the Hyades cluster. This combination, which will last until July 22nd, 2012, (the whole weekend) is great to unblock stalled situations and overcome impediments. In other sections of the Galactic Guide we have discussed the advantages of Jupiter´s transit by the Eskimo Nebula, which represents the possibility of overcoming obstacles and resistance (see related article). Now, this energy is focused on Saturn, now separating from the ecliptic conjunction with the giant star Eta Carina, and therefore beginning to lose strength, weakening its rigidity and authoritarianism.

     Driven by the emotional excitement of the Hyades cluster, Jupiter focuses on overcoming negative, pessimistic attitudes and thoughts. Results may vary, but generally they can be positive if one acts with a strategy, a plan and not on impulses. At an international level, this indicates a setback to restrictive policies, an increase of the revolutionary tendency, and significant improvements in stagnant situations in world diplomacy.


     But the previous trend is simultaneous with an equally interesting, but more discreet and more durable one... Pallas begins to form an opposition to star cluster M3, introduced by Mercury retrograde, which makes a trine or 120 degree angle. This astrological combination suggests the possibility of finding solutions to problems of instability, which cannot be ignored. If you find any inconsistency or failure of your daily routine, try not to postpone its resolution, as this is the time to put things on the right track. How is this possible?

     As we have seen before in the Galactic Guide, Pallas is an asteroid that represents a great corrective energy, whose power is based on the organization, planning. From now until August 18th, 2012, Pallas will be in opposition to globular cluster M3, an enormous cluster in the constellation Canes Venatici that has a lot of stars: over half a million! Unfortunately, the advanced age of M3 means that many of its stars, more than 200, have exhausted their fuel, so they have entered their phase of variable stars, with an intermittent, unstable luminosity. Therefore, M3 represents aspects of our reality that require maintenance, either because they have been worn out by time, or do not have enough power to function as needed.

     The position of Pallas indicates a tendency to compensate for such failures through an effective strategy. It is therefore necessary to take advantage this trend to correct major problems, even those from long ago. Do not be afraid to make major repairs to your house,  body, mind, emotions or relationships. And there's no hurry: on July 31st, 2012, Pallas will make its retrograde station opposed to this cluster, extending the effect of this trend until mid-August. Of course, you may need to put a sign at home or on your shirt: "We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this work: Palas operating" ...

June 26th: Juno in parallel to the Horsehead Nebula highlights the current state of our relationships, bringing diplomacy, creativity, art, controversy, beauty and more

June 26th: asteroid Juno is in parallel with the Horsehead Nebula. The asteroid of relationships is at the same declination of one of the most spectacular nebulae in the constellation Orion. The Horsehead Nebula or B33 is a dark nebula that is dramatically highlighted by a background illuminated by the star Zeta Orionis or Alnitak. Therefore, one of its qualities is precisely to highlight, to underline, to emphasize and exhibit, to show.... making things evident. This can be done in various ways, depending on which planet transits through this great cosmic backdrop. In this case, the guest to this wonderful cosmic set is Juno, the asteroid of relationships, couples, marriage, who has to some extent the same trends of Venus about the need to be emotionally fulfilled through others: family, friends, relatives...social life.


     Therefore, it is quite possible that during this week the signals which indicate the state of our emotional life wil be brought to light. It is appropriate to review our ties to others and find out what is stable and what should be changed. Unmet needs in relationships will be exposed, and this will inevitably lead to adjustments in relationships of all kinds. On the other hand, positive connections between people also tend to be intensified, and that reflects many moments of fulfillment in marriage, family, friendship, business associations, any partnerships with people. This is fantastic, but it is also true that if there are relationships that need to be kept hidden or should be handled with discretion, these days they are at risk of being exposed. Implement extreme cautions then!

     At an international level,  relationships between various political figures will also be exposed, which obviously will generate controversy. The focus of marriage (Juno) prevails, there will be couples and weddings generating lots to talk about, and of course there will be progress and resistance to homosexual marriage, which will also probably be in the news too. Juno, however, represents the art of diplomacy, which is quite welcome in these times when Saturn stationary on the hypergiant star Eta Carina, as there may be excessive self-centered, aggressive reactions in the international community. Juno and the Horsehead Nebula highlight the possibility of reaching agreements, to talk, to dialogue... Let's hope Juno will prevail!

      Personally, there are other ways to direct this combination Juno / Horsehead. Juno stands out for her social skills: she is the perfect hostess. This can favor greaty social events, although rather intimate ones, but do not rule out large crowds as well. Juno is also the artistic talent that can not fail to be highlighted with such an elegant cosmic backdrop. Juno favors dramatic arts, music, theater and dance, but this combination has definitely an impressive visual impact, so graphics are very important in artistic creation. We can expected good, memorable shows this couple of weeks... You can also see great creativity flowing in any rehearsal or artistic activity. Finally, Juno represents the personal wardrobe, haircut and grooming, to which you can do an update. That will highlight you in a positive way, lifting your mood, either to raise self-esteem or to please someone special.

Saturn ends its retrograde period in ecliptic conjunction to the star Eta Carinae, indicating a time to work the ego and its boundaries

     Saturn is stationary in ecliptic conjunction to the star/nebula Eta Carinae. This is an important event as Eta Carinae is one of the most massive stars in the galaxy. If it was at the center of our solar system its surface would reach the orbit of Jupiter. This cosmic hypergiant has a great personality, and grabs a lot of attention, leading to extreme self-centered egotistic attitudes. On the other hand, it represents a great potential but very variable in its manifestation. Eta Carina is a star whose brightness increases and decreases over the years, because of the large eruptions it has had. It is therefore an indicator of instability.

     Saturn's station on this remarkable star represents a moment in which it is possible to stabilize situations that are unstable and that threaten to get out of hand. Saturn tests everything in its path, and its direct station puts a strong emphasis on limiting excesses, to give structure to situations so they can flow more easily and in a stable manner. In relationships, we must deal with ego structures. Whether putting limits on our own ego or that of others, it is possible to control it and put it to good use. The need to attract attention by itself becomes empty and arrogant. In fact, it can cause great strife, clashes between rival parties, wounds to the ego, and confrontations with one's own failures, shortcomings or excesses in our personality.

     It is therefore necessary to give the ego a motivation, a cause, a goal, a challenge, a dream to which  aspire. Thus, the tremendous energy of Eta Carinae can find a solid platform on which to define and promote, by its charismatic personality, good causes and worthwhile projects. Internationally, this obviously has to manifest in an arrogant rudeness of some countries in diplomatic relations. Or perhaps it represents authoritarian reactions, showing the excessive saturnine control. It can also involve the need to control unstable,dangerous and/or threatening social or natural situations.

     This trend will last intensely for about two weeks, and it is possible that some events in the past two weeks are related to Saturn stationary in the same ecliptic degree of Eta Carinae. Do you recognize an Eta Carinae event in your recent experience?

June 18th: Juno, Pluto and star cluster M22 bring profound adjustments in relationships... Ceres, the Sun and star cluster M37 indicate an excellent time for productivity, while Mars, the cluster M39 and Saturn correct dispersions

June 18th: Juno is at 45° from Pluto and star cluster M22. This combination reflects difficulties in relationships; there may be a rethinking of objectives and the role each person plays in the relationship. Fortunately, the star cluster M22 is an indicator of harmonious coexistence, so that in many cases people will be able to fix things effectively, if there is a willingness to cooperate. But there may be also  manipulation attempts, which must be avoided, especially in committed relationships. The important thing is to maintain clarity and honesty, attributes of M22, within any dialogue. But if you are not in the mood for strong, spontaneous therapeutic sessions, it is better to fix things with people at another time...

     For example, a good way to occupy your mind on other, more productive things is indicated by the Sun at 30° from Ceres and conjunct star cluster M37... This certainly represents an injection of prosperity and productivity... M37 is a very rich cluster, with many red giant stars that stimulate material achievements. Its combination with asteroid Ceres, which represents Mother Nature giving us to eat, can be highly productive at all levels but especially at the physical and financial. Take advantage of this day to produce and do great business!  Investments and reasoned purchases are also favored... The best ones, for the home environment, food, children, plants, animals and personal safety.

     Mars at 30° from Saturn and opposed to stellar cluster M39. On the other hand, we have this tendency that refers to structuring and dynamizing fluffy situations. M39 is a rather sparse cluster, so that the opposition of Mars, which represents energy and activity, fits very well today. Especially in projects or situations that are lethargic or that do notnhave motivation. Saturn helps Mars, giving it the opportunity to structure and set goals, but we must not take discipline very seriously... Do not forget that Saturn is conjunct again Eta Carinae, one of the biggest stars in the galaxy, so big that its eruptions have formed a colorful nebula around. Combining this power with the saturnine rigor and discipline has two sides: the building of a powerful structure that can support our dreams, even despite the heavy demands that are involved in the process... But it can also imply a strong repression or resistance to change. What do you prefer?

May 4th: Pallas, Juno, star cluster M10 and Stephan's Quintet of galaxies suggest a moment to participate and cooperate. The Sun and M10 also bring work in privacy and good business, Eta Carina and Mercury bring a mirror to contemplate our own ego ... and others as well.

May 4th: Pallas is in contra parallel to Juno, in parallel to star cluster M10, in ecliptic conjunction with Stephan's Quintet, a small group of galaxies in the constellation Pegasus. This mix of asteroids, galaxies and star cluster indicates an important moment of cooperation, ideal for teamwork or to gather the necessary people to help in our plans. It is important to stay open to cooperation and exchange, but we'll need also to motivate others and be ready to accept people different from oneself.

The Sun in contra parallel to M17, the Swan Nebula, indicates a different way, best suited for those who prefer to do things at a more personal or private level. The Swan Nebula contains inside a stellar cluster, but is hidden behind the clouds of ionized hydrogen. However, it illuminates the nebula, which shines like a cosmic lamp in all its glory. Hence the transit of the Sun today is positive to work privately, especially in artistic matters, but also in business. M17 is a great astrological infuence to do good operations. investments and major purchases. Take advantage of it!

On the other hand, Mercury in ecliptic opposition to the star / nebula Eta Carinae reveals the possibility of a positive and clear communication with self-centered peope, with very strong opinions. Eta Carinae corresponds with very strong personalities, as it is one of biggest stars in our galaxy. It can only grab attention! If there is something to deal with someone like this, communication can be very fluid today. If it is more about oneself, it is a good time to contemplate one's own ego and look at it realistically and objectively. It's as contemplating our ego through the mirror of what one thinks and says. Contemplate your mind, and have a very good opportunity to learn from yourself, anlayzing your stream of thoughts. Good luck!

March 22nd: There are many astrological combinations operating today. They indicate various levels of experience with which we can connect. Saturn in opposition to the Andromeda galaxy and at 135° from Pallas indicates the possibility of giving structure to great plans, and efforts to materialize great ideas. It is therefore an excellent time to design strategies, to begin shaping plans and to have significant progress in those already underway. On the other hand, this mix may represent an excessive weight of conventions, which will tend to predominate over individual needs and evolutive, progressive trends, and that can thwart creativity. Mars is in opposition to Chiron and forming a parallel to the galaxy M87 (Virgo A). On one hand, this combination emphasizes learning, communication and diagnostics. M87 is a particularly active galaxy and the largest source of radio emission in the constellation Virgo, hence the power of communication associated with it. Chiron emphasizes knowledge, which can be expressed by the conjunction with M87: listen, read, study, teach, get informed, as there can be a lots of interesting and useful information circulating. At the same time, this blend of planets and galaxy reveals the expression of isolated parts of the personality or society. In some parts of the world, this will involve protests and violent demonstrations.
